CHICAGO DAILY NEWS PATTERN SERVICE
By Susan Wildemuth – Atkinson, Illinois
The CHICAGO DAILY NEWS of Chicago, Illinois, like the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, had a mail-order pattern service. Customers sent their patterns requests and coin to the Personal Service Bureau, THE DAILY NEWS, 400 West Madison Street, Chicago, Illinois and the newspaper would mail them a copy of the quilt pattern(s) they requested. Customers were told to allow a week or ten days for delivery of the pattern.
The next two pieces of ephemera came to me together and “as is” in a quilt pattern paper auction lot.
